    ABOUT EAGLEBROOK SCHOOL

    Eaglebrook is a junior boarding and day school for boys in grades six, seven, eight, and nine, located in Deerfield, Massachusetts. Founded in 1922, Eaglebrook’s vision is to help each student develop his unique gifts during the important middle school years, and our mission is to meet boys where they are in their development and to encourage them to build self-confidence through success. Eaglebrook offers a rich and diverse curriculum geared toward the learning styles of middle school boys.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Operates vacuum cleaners, auto scrubbers, carpet extractors, sweepers, and high-speed burnishers.
    • Keeps equipment in good working order. Immediately reports defective equipment to supervisor.
    • Cleans all glass using proper cleaning chemicals and equipment.
    • Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, wood/composite surfaces, metal surfaces, and trim using proper cleaning chemicals and equipment.
    • Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators and elevator tracks, stairways, and locker rooms, and other campus areas using correct techniques and chemicals.
    • Empties trash receptacles daily, including feminine hygiene disposal containers, making sure that the container is clean, and a new liner is provided.
    • Sweeps, dust mops, damp mops, scrubs/strips, and waxes all hard floors, steps, and stairways using proper chemicals and equipment.
    • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies using proper chemicals and equipment.
    • Dusts all hard surfaces, furniture, and equipment.
    • Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork. Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
    • Cleans whiteboard, erasers, and eraser trays using proper equipment.
    • Empties wastebaskets. Places all recycling items in proper containers.
    • Transports trash and waste to the disposal area.
    • Replenishes bathroom supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, and hand soap as needed.
    • Cleans custodian closet.
    • Empties vacuum cleaner or changes bag between half and three-quarters full changes belt as needed.
    • Moves furniture and other items within a building, as directed, to ensure proper cleaning.
    • Sets up tables and chairs in the auditorium or hall.
    • Must attend training and development classes and/or sessions as directed by the Facilities Manager.
    • Maintains levels of attendance, punctuality, and appearance as required by departmental standards.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

    • Previous experience in professional/custodial cleaning is preferred, but not required.
    • Ability to work effectively with all members of the school community in a pleasant, cooperative manner.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
    • Applicant must consent to a criminal background check.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Must be capable of performing multiple tasks and able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Valid driver’s license required.
    • Must be able to successfully complete CPR & AED certified courses.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and Material Safety Data Sheets.

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    • Valid driver’s license

    • Able to climb stairs and step ladders up to 10 feet high.
    • Pushing/pulling parking cleaning equipment, mopping or vacuuming up water spills, moving equipment.

    • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.
