    Alley is hiring an accounting leader to join our team as a Finance Controller. We are looking for a strategic thinker, well-versed in financial modeling with exposure to investment banking, accounting operations, business analytics and financial functions in this high visibility, client-facing role. As a part of a lean Finance team supporting a fast-growing organization, this person needs to be comfortable being hands on with the day-to-day support of financial operations as we scale.

    The perfect candidate will have a strong work ethic, high standards, and a winning attitude to join our team and to facilitate continued growth.  Ideal candidates will possess 6+ years of finance experience in investment banking, a corporate FP&A role, or Assistant Finance Controller combined with demonstrated increasing levels of responsibility throughout their employment history; have exceptional attention to detail, and a strong grasp of fundamental accounting concepts.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Build detailed bottoms up models that will yield insights and support key decision making
    • Work directly with the COO and department heads to evaluate new partnerships, initiatives, and operating models, set targets, and measure performance
    • Ability to develop a strategic financial and operating plan around new lines of businesses
    • Producing accurate and timely financial statements and other reporting on a regular basis, as well as owning the monthly close process, including consolidation of results, Space P&Ls, preparing, posting and the review of journal entries, creation of all financial reports and balance sheet reconciliations
    • Provide technical accounting guidance, research and direction for accounting issues and new GAAP/IFRS pronouncements (including revenue recognition and lease accounting).
    • Develop, manage, and ensure that corporate accounting policies and procedures are consistently applied and are in accordance with GAAP
    • Assist in the quarterly and annual strategic planning process
    • Support the teams with crucial financial metrics and key business analysis
    • Prepare executive-grade financial reporting, summarizing findings and recommendations
    • Assists in ensuring the development and maintenance of effective internal controls and processes to assure safeguarding of assets and reliability of financial statements
    • Ensures that all corporate treasury functions are properly accounted for and cash is reconciled appropriately
    • Manage all Company payables, receivables, Corporate Card and expense reconciliations
    • Support the rest of the team with ad-hoc analysis as necessary

    QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Public Accounting, Economics or a related field
    • 6+ years of direct work experience in FP&A, Consulting or Investment Banking
    • Deep knowledge of internal controls and best practices processes
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
    • Strong supervisory and team-building abilities.  Ability to create, manage, and develop a high-performance team in a collaborative culture
    • International experience with GAAP.
    • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and multi-task in a cross-functional environment
    • Financial system implementation experience and knowledge of business processes is very helpful
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills, including previous exposure to senior management and the ability to present information accordingly
