* **Veterinary Experience** : Prior experience working in the veterinary industry or hospital, or related setting is essential. Understanding the veterinary field, medical terminology, and clinical procedures is crucial.
* **Coordination and Administration** : Proficiency in coordinating schedules, managing logistics, and handling administrative tasks required.
* **Communication Skills** : Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. You’ll interact with veterinary students, faculty, and other team members regularly.
* **Organizational Skills** : Ability to manage multiple tasks, track externship schedules, and maintain accurate records.
* **Adaptability** : Externs come from diverse backgrounds and have varying learning needs. Being adaptable and helping to tailor the experience to each student with the practices is crucial.
