    Allies in Caring is seeking someone passionate about creating career pathways for youth, adults, and dislocated workers. This job is a good fit if you have experience providing occupational skills training, customized training, on-the-job training, working with youth and adults with development, academic instruction, career & technical education. 

    CAREER DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST IS THE PRIMARY POINT OF CONTACT BETWEEN OUR STAFF, PARTICIPANTS AND POTENTIAL EMPLOYERS IN OUR APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM. 

    THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Primary contact for apprenticeship program
    • Facilitate linkage to certification training
    • Create culturally appropriate educational materials for career exploration, soft skills development, and employment skills
    • Provide employment training, helping employees develop their skills and develop the tools needed for job permanency, testing the skills of the job candidates, conducting mock interviews, helping candidates with their resume, and monitoring job retention.
    • Enter data collected on apprentices and employer activity in an internal and/or state system. Maintain accurate participant records, perform filing and general clerical functions. Tracks and reports on placement activities. Works with staff to identify job placement concerns and propose solutions.
    • Build relationships with potential employers, creating a cultural bridge for apprentices to join employers such as   health and social service agencies, and government; identify deficits in personnel and identifying opportunities for our apprentices
    • Advocate for employment for our apprentices, 
    • Match job applicants to a specific job that suits their talents.

    POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

    • Bilingual Spanish is a must
    • Experience:  2+ years relevant work experience hiring, training, and managing staff. Experience working with Spanish speaking individuals and / or people with disabilities.
    • Skills: Excellent people skills and ability to build relationships. Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of participants, staff, and community. Basic knowledge and understanding of issues that affect people with barriers and disabilities. Strong process orientation: Detail oriented. Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
    • Other:  Must meet state criminal background check requirements.
    • Travel:  Must have appropriate and valid state driver's license and be able to meet requirements for Eckerd's Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes. Travel up to 40% of the time.
