    We are looking for an experienced and organized Legal Assistant to join our team at Alpert Schreyer Trial Attorneys in Bowie, MD. As part of our team, you will provide individualized support to our attorneys and work on complex and confidential legal cases. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Responsibilities: • Managing the Criminal Law Court calendar. • Adjourn Court dates that propose a scheduling problem. • Answer phones, direct calls, and take messages. • Prepare notices for clients regarding new Court dates. • Set up new client files and work as the liaison between Intake and Litigation. • Call Courts to obtain case information. • Request and obtain discovery. • Schedule phone and office appointments for clients with their attorney. • E-File and File motions in District Court and Circuit Court. • Prepare and file driver's license Hardship Appeals in Circuit Court. • Refer clients to obtain Substance Use Assessments. • Send client referrals for drug testing, educational programs, and interlock. • DAAD (driver assessment and appeal division) file set up. • DAAD interlock violation hearing requests. • File requests for implied consent hearings with SOS. • Draft and file various motions pertaining to withdrawal of counsel, travel, and probation needs. • Maintain case files in digital document management software. • Scan in all client documents. Qualifications: • Must have 3-5 years minimum of legal secretary experience within a Criminal Law Defense environment. • Must be computer literate and familiar with all Microsoft Office products. • Must be proficient in typing. Minimum 65 wpm. • Must be knowledgeable of all Maryland Courts & have prior E-Filing and Filing experience. • Must be able to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines. • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. • Must have a courteous, professional, and friendly demeanor.
