    AlpHa Measurement Solutions is experiencing aggressive growth through a global platform consolidation and recognizes a need to continuously strengthen its product development capabilities to meet increased demand and support continued growth.  We have an open position for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Research & Development (R&D) / New Product Development (NPD) team. 

    AlpHa Measurement Solutions’ R&D and NPD functions are critical to our company’s success.  The team is responsible for developing and commercializing new analytical sensors and instrumentation, leading the conceptualization, research, design, prototype development, testing, and production launch, as well as supporting the product lifecycle through troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives.  Our R&D and Product Development teams are currently comprised of talented individuals with advanced degrees in the fields of mechanical engineering, chemistry, electrochemistry, and electrical engineering. 

    Our privately held company has over 100 years of liquid sensing experience, is growing, and currently employs 250 team members in Houston Texas and 160 in Shanghai China.  We need a talented mechanical designer who wants to be a part of a strengthening R&D team, who is self-motivated to advance the company and priority initiatives, and is capable of strengthening our mechanical expertise with up-to-date best practices in mechanical design.

    Our global headquarters is conveniently located in Houston at the southwest intersection of I-69 and Sam Houston Tollway, just north of Sugar Land. 

    The Mechanical Engineer will report directly to Ouwen Sun, Director of Product Development, and will have the opportunity to engage directly with the entire leadership team of AlpHa Measurement Solutions. 

    Classification: Salary, Exempt, Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. 

    Pay Rate - $55k annually

    JOB DESCRIPTION 

    Summary

    The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for assisting the mechanical engineering team with product design including developing 2D/3D CAD drawings, creating and validating bills of material, and building of product prototypes.  CAD drawings will be constructed using Solidworks by Dassault Systems, therefore any prior experience using Solidworks is preferred.  Additionally, any prior experience using 3D printing technologies is preferred, as this will be used for assisting the prototype creation process.  We are accepting applications from individuals recently graduated from Bachelor’s or Master’s programs in Mechanical Engineering. 

    Essential Functions

    • CAD Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.  Solidworks software experience is preferred.
    • Bill of Materials Creation and Validation – Review drawing packages to validate and/or generate engineering bill of materials and routing based upon assembly and work instructions and product design specification.
    • Assist with the deployment of new product designs to mass manufacturing through product documentation and training.
    • Work closely with other R&D functions in order to define product design specifications.
    • Develop appropriate testing techniques for validation of new product designs and quantification of product specifications.
    • Conduct and evaluate appropriate research in support of new product development and product improvement initiatives.

    Required Qualifications and Experience

    • Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • Experience using Solidworks by Dassault Systems is highly preferred
    • Experience working with 3D printing technology is highly preferred
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong problem solving and critical thinking capabilities
