OPPORTUNITY

AlpHa Measurement Solutions is experiencing aggressive growth through a global platform consolidation and recognizes a need to continuously strengthen its product development capabilities to meet increased demand and support continued growth.  We are establishing an CO-OP ENGINEERING PROGRAM  to contribute meaningfully to our Operations Department and develop future engineers.

AlpHa Measurement Solutions’ Operations are critical to our company’s success.  The team is responsible for flawlessly executing the assembly and testing of products, with on time delivery to our customers, with perfect quality.  We are looking for Co-Op Engineering students who are willing to “roll up their sleeves” and work side-by-side with the Operations team in optimizing processes.  This will include the analysis of data to identify specific work instructions, process flows, optimal work center sizes as well as overall flow to maximize output with the availability for future expansion.

Our privately held company has over 100 years of liquid sensing experience, is growing, and currently employs 230 team members in Houston Texas and 140 in Shanghai China.  Our global headquarters is conveniently located in Houston at the southwest intersection of I-69 and Sam Houston Tollway, just north of Sugar Land.

CO-OP ENGINEERING students are high visibility positions with the opportunity to engage directly with the entire executive leadership team of AlpHa Measurement Solutions.

Classification: HOURLY, PART-TIME WITH FLEXIBILITY ON THE TOTAL HOURS AND TIMES MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

PAY RATE:  NON-EXEMPT, $10.00 PER HOUR    

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

The Co-Op Engineering students will be responsible for creating process specific work instructions, process flows, optimal work center sizes as well as overall flow to maximize output.  Visio drawings may be constructed with potential layouts and workstations, therefore any prior experience using Visio is preferred, but not required.    We are accepting applications from individuals either entering their Junior-Senior year of a Bachelor’s degree program, or Masters Degree Students, in Industrial, Industrial & Systems, or Mechanical engineering or recent recipients of a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Industrial & Systems, or Mechanical engineering.

Essential Functions

• 1)Creation and validation of Operator work instructions including time studies.
• 2)Work closely with other functions to define process design specifications.
• 3)Assist Operations in the movement of work areas as well as identified areas where optimization would streamline the process.
• 4)Be a team player in open communications with Operations; attempt to influence as well as able to openly take criticism, as needed.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Recent graduate or actively pursuing Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Engineering
• Experience using Excel and Visio is highly preferred and/ability to read Engineering/Construction prints
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Lean Manufacturing knowledge is highly preferred
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking capabilities
