We are seeking a qualified applicant for a pre-press/production artist role supporting the design department in a rapidly growing print shop. This is a full time, in-office position, 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
What you’ll be doing
This position will entail reviewing all new design orders for complete instructions, usable high-quality files when clients supply their own materials, checking mail merge databases and other supplied elements of job submissions to ensure the design team can smoothly move forward with art creation and proofing. You will be effectively the “first round” of quality control and will have direct communication with clients when necessary to acquire correct source materials when not initially provided. Once orders have been reviewed and any concerns have been resolved, they will then be passed on to the designers for distribution, creation and proofing.
Additional roles for this job will include but are not limited to:
Setting up labels and art for digital die cutting
Custom cut signage file setup
Imposing print files for production in Freeflow Core (no experience needed, this is very quick to learn)
Adding bleeds to incomplete files/cleaning up customer-supplied art so it is “print-ready”
Typesetting for branded templates such as business card orders for existing clients and other fulfillment-style orders
Running data merges for in-house mailings
You may at times be asked to do some basic design work, but the majority of the role will focus on pre-press and production art tasks to support the designers.
What we’re looking for
We are a fast-paced, print-focused environment and as such we are looking for a candidate who is detail oriented, focused, and able to effectively communicate with coworkers and clients. Communication is key to working with the team and ensuring we provide a high quality product to the consumer in a timely manner. We work on new projects every day and encounter a wide variety; the ability to keep projects and files organized is a must.
Qualifications/technical requirements:
Apple/Mac platform experience
1-2 years print production experience—comm design/graphic design degree not required, but must be familiar with creating print-ready files
Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat Pro)
Basic experience with Microsoft Office (you will mostly be working with reviewing mailing databases in excel, customer Word docs or Powerpoints for content)
Benefits
Bonus program for all employees.
Paid vacation days available upon hire.
Health, vision, dental, and life insurance available after 60 days of employment.
