    The Alpine Advanced Materials Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) reports to the Director of Quality and is the focal point for approved suppliers contracted to produce injection molded and thermoformed products based on a family of custom advanced thermoplastic composite materials.  This role is responsible for supply chain management of outsourced products, ensuring quality requirements and on time deliverables to end customers are met.

    The SQE drives customer satisfaction and continual improvement in accomplishing Alpine's strategic plan through monitoring, managing, and resolving issues related to Supplier quality performance. The SQE is proficient in developing Supplier relationships, auditing, improving Suppliers' capabilities, capacities, products, processes, procedures, coaching Supplier improvement initiatives, seeking resolution of Supplier rejections, and coordinating successful closure of Supplier corrective actions.

    The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in manufacturing of molded polymer products including writing inspection procedures, reviewing & managing supplier performance to budget/schedule, and problem-solving when issues arise that complicate these tasks.  The SQE will need to be self-driven for project execution and be able to follow goal level instructions from Management to successfully identify and accomplish tasks that meet the goal criteria.  Experience in testing, auditing, inspection, and supply chain management tools are important for this position.  Aerospace experience, specifically with AS9100 and Nadcap, is strongly desired.

    Requirements:

    • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment, preferably in a Quality Engineering, Quality Management, Supplier Management, or customer support role
    • Proficient with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) and project management tools such as MS Project
    • Familiarity with Minitab
    • Experience managing suppliers regarding capabilities, schedule, cost, and performance
    • Experience with polymer processing and manufacturing methods such as injection molding, extrusion, machining, and thermoforming
    • Experience with inspection requirements and quality metrics to satisfy customer needs
    • Self-driven with demonstrated record of achieving timely results  
    • High attention to detail and a proven obsession with meeting customer requirements
    • Excellent time-management skills
    • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES _The list below is not intended to be all-inclusive, and employees may be asked to carry out many other duties necessary for the needs of the organization. _

    • Conduct Source Inspections, Incoming Receiving Inspections, and Supplier Surveys/Audits to ensure all quality and technical requirements are adhered to by Suppliers
    • Review Supplier First Article Inspections (FAI's) IAW AS9102
    • Assign, monitor, and close Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR's) while ensuring appropriate Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) has been identified and addressed to reduce and/or eliminate recurrence
    • Issue and disposition Nonconforming Material Reports (NCR's) in support of the Material Review Board (MRB)
    • Initiate and participate in Continuous Improvement activities to improve Supplier performance, productivity, processes, and costs
    • Monitor quality performance metrics for assigned Suppliers and develop subsequent improvement plans
    • Lead activities such as Supplier qualification, Supplier development, and Supplier Zero Defect Programs (ZDP)
    • Ensure compliance of suppliers through leading and participating in supplier audits and helping to manage Supplier risks
    • Coach Supplier Team members on Quality Management System requirements
    • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities
    • Review internal Supplier Quality Assurance Procedures to ensure compliance with customer and/or government requirements
    • Convey key characteristics/requirements to suppliers and obtain agreement on methodology for process controls of fabrication/manufacturing to ensure the highest probability of receiving a defect free product on time

    AUTHORITIES

    • Complete tasks with very little Management oversight
    • Provide mentoring to assigned Suppliers

    CONSULTING RELATIONSHIPS

    • Supply Chain Organization
    • Site Operations to include Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Program Management
    • Customers and other external stakeholders

    EDUCATION Master's degree preferred / Bachelor's degree in a related field required CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

    • Certified AS9100 Lead Auditor preferred; Certified Internal Auditor required
    • ASQ-CQE preferred; ASQ-CQA, CQT or equivalent required
    • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred; Six Sigma Green Belt required

    OTHER DESIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES / KNOWLEDGE

    • Ability to travel up to 100% - U.S. Passport
    • Strong GD&T skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication (Technical Writing experience a plus)
    • Demonstrated knowledge of quality management methodologies and tools such as:
    • Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen
    • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
    • Control Plans
    • Quality Management Systems per AS9100 / ISO 9001
    • Statistical process control, Gage R&R, and Capability Analysis
    • Problem solving
