    Job Description

    Alpine's Education Program is a full day, twelve-month program for learners ages 3-21. The Teacher of Students with Disabilities provides ABA-based teaching techniques in a classroom of four, five, or six learners in a 1:1 to 1:2 staff to student ratio.

    Responsibilities:

    The Teacher of Students with Disabilities is responsible for developing students' success in academics, interpersonal and social skills, communication and language skills, activities of daily living and other areas of skill acquisition. The teacher supervises students in the classroom, develops lesson plans based upon IEPs and Alpine Learning Group procedures, and collaborates with colleagues and families.

    • Develops, implements, and evaluates instructional and treatment programs.
    • Participates in the development of Individualized Educational Plans.
    • Collects, summarizes, and evaluates data.
    • Writes progress reports.
    • Works with senior level staff to problem solve programs in which the data do not demonstrate change in the desired direction or to develop new programming ideas.
    • Conducts home visitations and advises parents or guardians.
    • Collaborates with staff, parents and child study team in exploring a variety of community resources for improving the quality of student experiences and outcomes.
    • Provides training and direction to instructional aides.
    • Manages the arrival and dismissal of students and monitors and assures the safety of students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, etc.)
    • Responds to and reports emergencies as per Alpine Learning Group policies and procedures.
    • Attends staff meetings, pre-service and in-service training sessions.
    • Recommends materials, supplies, and equipment.
    • Assists in training volunteers and research interns.
    • Assists in proper maintenance of classroom, other areas of the facility, and grounds by informing administrators of any issues.
    • Conducts Dynamic Learning Maps Assessments (DLM).
    • Engages in professional development opportunities (e.g., conferences, presentations, and/or research).
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Principal.

    Skills/Knowledge:

    • Be of good moral character
    • Ability to successfully complete the Alpine Learning Group training program
    • Good problem solving, organizational, oral and written communication skills
    • Proficient with educational technology (e.g. tablets, computers)
    • Competence with planning/implementing/evaluating individualized skill acquisition
    • and behavior reduction treatment programs
    • Ability to work with diverse individuals and needs
    • Maintain confidentiality

    Qualifications/Certificates:

    Bachelor's degree

    NJDOE Certified Teacher of Students with Disabilities and NJ Elementary School Certificate (Grades K-6)

    Experience working with learners with autism

    Understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis

    **Working Environment/Physical Demands: **

    Sitting, walking, standing, occasional running, some lifting, good fine and gross motor coordination when guiding students, ability to supervise play and exercise routines, vision and hearing and receptive and expressive language abilities as suited to instructional and behavioral needs of one's students.

    Clearances:

    Compliance with Federal, State and NJDOE Personnel Code requirements, including but not limited to Mantoux TB test, Criminal History. Motor Vehicle Review, Citizenship Status

    Schedule: Full Time position: 38 hours work week - Monday, - Thursday 8:30- 4:15 pm, Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

    Salary: Commensurate with credentials
