We are looking for a full-time or part-time mechanical engineer, energy engineer, or building scientist with a specialty in energy systems and data analysis to support projects both on technical deliverables and project consulting, based on the candidate's experience and capability. WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

You will work to provide engineering support for our building solutions and consulting teams. A portion of your time will be spent performing commissioning and auditing on-site. You will also contribute to the development of whole-building energy models, and sustainable building design or retrofit strategies including energy efficiency, renewable, and other distributed energy generation or storage projects. Due to the nature of this work, you must be available to go on-site in the New York City Metropolitan Area.

The ideal candidate will take the lead, be proactive, and use initiative to help strengthen our teams, capabilities, and processes, furthering our mission to develop innovative and cutting-edge climate solutions for our clients. Your success will be a vital core driving Altanova's sustainable growth.

You will work on all types of projects within the built environment, ranging from institutional to commercial to residential building projects. You will support the full range of our services, which include environmental design consulting, daylight, WELL, Living Building Challenge, LEED program management, and modeling/technical assistance for state incentive program projects. Experience with NYSERDA, Enterprise Green Community, CNC, and New York City's new construction development would be a plus.

The position is located at our LIC - NYC office.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree minimum in mechanical engineering, building science, or related field with understanding in HVAC performance. Final-year students will also be considered.
• Experience in energy analysis with EnergyPlus, eQuest, Open Studio, and/or Design Builder a plus
• Exposure to modeling to ASHRAE Standard 90.1, 55, and 62.1 in various design stages, including proficiency with other building performance metrics.
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience in commissioning, building testing & verification (T&V), and performance verification.
• Proficiency in C# or Python programming is a plus.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English, and outstanding verbal, interpersonal, and writing skills.
