    Job Title: Cat Veterinary Technician

    Location: All/Hybrid

    Position Summary

    The Cat Veterinary Technician is responsible for providing compassionate medical care and daily wellness support to the sanctuary’s rescued cats. This role works closely with veterinarians, the placement team, and other staff to ensure each cat receives appropriate preventative, diagnostic, and treatment care while maintaining a stress-free, clean, and safe environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Assist in routine health checks, medical treatments, and procedures for cats under veterinary guidance.

    Administer medications, vaccines, and preventatives (flea/tick, heartworm, dewormers) as prescribed.

    Monitor cats for signs of illness, injury, or behavioral changes and promptly report findings to the veterinarian or placement team.

    Safely handle cats of all temperaments, including feral, fearful, or medical-recovery cats.

    Perform sample collection (blood, fecal, urine) for diagnostic testing as needed.

    Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each cat in sanctuary care.

    Assist with intake exams for new arrivals, including physical assessment, microchipping, and vaccinations.

    Ensure cat housing areas remain clean, sanitized, and comfortable at all times.

    Provide enrichment, gentle handling, and socialization to reduce stress and improve adoptability.

    Educate fosters and adopters on proper cat care, medical needs, and follow-up treatments.

    Maintain inventory of medical supplies and request restocking as needed.

    Support spay/neuter and other surgical procedures, including preparation, monitoring, and recovery.

    Qualifications

    Previous experience as a veterinary technician, veterinary assistant, or in a cat-focused animal care role required.

    Knowledge of feline health, behavior, and safe handling techniques.

    Ability to work in a fast-paced rescue environment with compassion and patience.

    Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

    Comfort with performing medical treatments and procedures under veterinary direction.

    Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.

    Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours.

    This role is physically active and requires working closely with cats in various health and behavioral conditions.
