The Machine Operators are assigned to a shift and work schedule based on their production area. 4 of the 12 hours each shift will count as overtime.
Machine Operator-Injection: 6:30 am to 7:00 pm
Machine Operator-Blow Molding: 6:40 am to 7:10 pm
Machine Operator-Packaging; 6:50 am to 7:20 pm
POSITION OVERVIEW: Responsible for operation and proficient understanding of blow mold machinery including palletizers, strapping machines, wrapping machines, and overall flow of product. Operation of blow mold machines involves performing short-cycle, repetitive, and control functions in set patterns to attain high-quality production output that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintains standard production objectives through proper machine operation and accurately records production. Communicates production information at shift change.
Knows and practices safe and proper start-up and shut-down procedures for each machine.
Performs minor adjustments to machinery involving hand movements and simple hand tools to ensure smooth, continued machine operation.
Has authority to stop machines/production to communicate machine problems and breakdowns to Production Supervisor and/or Maintenance.
Inspects product for quality defects. Has authority to stop production due to quality issues, including raw materials.
Maintains housekeeping of all assigned areas. This includes applying Good Manufacturing Practices to meet plant goals.
Reports daily production scrap in computer system.
Follows all Amcor established safety rules and guidelines and as trained during the various safety-related training programs. Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers and managers/supervisors. Properly uses all personal protective equipment.
Performs other related duties as directed by the Production Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Ability to read, write and understand English.
Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values and enter this information into an on-line database accurately.
Ability to visually distinguish fine variations in color and other visual defects.
Proficient hand/eye coordination to operate equipment.
Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions and independent judgment calls based on the situation at hand.
Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software.
Ability to work all shifts and required overtime.
