    Communications Associate

    Summary

    PaintCare, the nonprofit organization that plans and operates paint stewardship programs in 10 states and DC, is hiring a Communications Associate to support corporate communications activities. This position will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including administrative support, event planning, industry research, and strategic marketing. The position is part of PaintCare's communications department and reports to the Corporate Communications Manager.

    PaintCare is committed to making it easy and convenient for households, businesses, and institutions to recycle postconsumer (leftover) paint in states with paint stewardship laws. A nonprofit organization created by paint manufacturers, PaintCare sets up drop-off locations for leftover paint, arranges for recycling and proper disposal, and conducts public education. More than 66 million gallons of paint, stain, and varnish have been managed by PaintCare in 10 states and the District of Columbia.     Responsibilities

    Conference Planning and Association Outreach (40%)

    • Coordinate shipments to and from national and regional conferences, events, and expos. Includes working with internal systems and creating tracking capabilities to record cost, timeline, and weight of all shipments.
    • Coordinate planning logistics for national and regional conferences. Includes working with vendors, registering staff, maintaining documents, leading information sessions for staff, and additional duties as assigned.
    • Travel within the continental U.S to conferences and expos as assigned.

    Research & Marketing (30%)

    • Research sponsorship, membership, and exhibitor opportunities and provide detailed reports to supervisor for consideration.
    • Write in-app/website profiles for use by partner organizations.
    • Write contributions for marketing opportunities (e-newsletters, blogs, etc.) for partners and organizations.

    Administrative (30%)

    • Coordinate educational material orders and procurement.
    • Track and report regularly on shipment and materials status.
    • Assist with mailing projects by preparing contact lists, drafting purchase orders, and quality checking shipments for vendors.
    • Update and maintain internal database of partner organization profiles and contacts.

    Preferred Skills and Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related field.
    • 1-2+ years minimum of work experience in marketing, communications, or related role.
    • Interest in environmental work, product stewardship, and/or external relations.
    • Ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.
    • Ability to travel within the continental U.S several times per year.
    • Superb attention to detail and highly organized.
    • Excellent written and communication skills including public speaking.
    • Positive attitude with a desire to learn many facets of communication.
    • Ability to work well in a team environment and interact with diverse audiences including colleagues, vendors, partner organizations, and event representatives.
    • Strong prioritization and time management skills.
    • Experience copywriting, reporting in Excel, and working in database systems.
    • Event planning and vendor logistics experience.

    Location and Travel

    This position is located at ACA headquarters in Washington, DC and will operate within a hybrid work environment (working both onsite and remotely). This position will be expected to travel for work events a few times per year within the US.

    This is a full time, regular position. Salary depends on experience. PaintCare, through the ACA, provides generous benefits [401(k), vacation days, medical, dental, and life insurance] and reimbursement for travel expenses.
