Summary
National manufacturing trade association seeks a person to work on environmental policy in an advocacy environment. Familiarity with federal and state regulatory and legislative processes is key. Knowledge of and experience with extended producer responsibility initiatives, as well as product stewardship, hazardous waste regulations, and sustainability issues as they relate to the manufacture, distribution, and end-of-life management of liquid and non-liquid formulated products.
Responsibilities will include expanding the coatings industry's paint stewardship program, PaintCare, by working to pass authorizing legislation in more states. PaintCare is committed to making it easy and convenient for households, businesses, and institutions to recycle postconsumer (leftover) paint in states with paint stewardship laws. A nonprofit organization created by paint manufacturers, PaintCare sets up drop-off locations for leftover paint, arranges for recycling and proper disposal, and conducts public education. More than 50 million gallons of paint, stain, and varnish have been managed by PaintCare in 10 states and the District of Columbia. **Skills & Requirements **
The ability to travel is required. Candidate should have 2 - 5 years' minimum experience. J.D. degree is a bonus but not required. Requisite knowledge of and ability to interpret federal and state environmental and health regulations and communicate to non-lawyers is also essential. Requires experience with advocacy on local, state or federal level, including demonstrated ability to draft well organized, meaningful comment letters and testify accordingly before regulatory agencies or legislative bodies. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Government Affairs.

Location
This position is located at ACA headquarters in Washington, DC and will operate within a hybrid work environment (working both onsite and remotely).
