The CULTURAL RESOURCES DIVERSITY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (CRDIP) is a professional development internship that introduces undergraduate and graduate students, from backgrounds historically underrepresented in the National Parks, to career opportunities within Cultural Resource Management in the NPS. Applicants MUST be 18-30 (up to 35 for Veterans) and be in pursuit of a higher education degree.

A DHA (DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY) INTERNSHIP targets exceptional upper-level undergraduate or graduate students that are interested in pursuing careers with the NPS. DHA positions will be rigorous internships that develop the participant's technical and creative thinking abilities, leadership skills, and problem-solving capabilities.

DHA applicants will be involved in cultural resource management projects that generate data and/or research that must be analyzed and presented to various stakeholders at the end of the internship. If the position is an education or interpretation project, the participant must research, develop, and pilot a program or materials for use at the host site. After successful completion of the internship, and graduation from their degree program, the intern will receive DHA non-competitive hiring eligibility.

LOCATION: This position will be based in Olmsted Center offices in Boston. The Olmsted Center for Landscape Preservation promotes the stewardship of significant landscapes through research, planning, maintenance, training, and education.

For more information regarding the Olmsted Center for Landscape Preservation, please visit the NPS website: https://www.nps.gov/orgs/1594/index.htm

LIVING ALLOWANCE: The ACE Member is expected to contribute 40 hours/week and will receive a living allowance of $560/week to offset the cost of food and incidental expenses, paid bi-weekly.

HOUSING: Housing is not provided by ACE or NPS. A reimbursement of $700/month will be provided to help offset the cost of housing.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The ACE member will explore communication formats to improve how the Olmsted Center shares cultural landscape stories with the public. As a member of the Olmsted Center team, the Digital Media Specialist will create ArcGIS StoryMaps that convey a strong sense of place by linking engaging narratives and graphics to maps that reveal the spatial relationships within nationally significant cultural landscapes. The Digital Media Assistant will also contribute to the production of Landscape Profiles, a National Park Service web series capturing the history and significance of our park landscapes. Both digital media projects will improve the visitor experience and foster community engagement within the National Parks.
