    OPERATIONS MANAGER

    MADISON, WISCONSIN

     

    As an operations manager, the objective is coordinate and supervise daily operational and administrative activities for Madison. These operational activities will include receiving, shipping, warehousing, delivery, counter sales, inventory management and administrative functions in support of the sales activity for the market.

     

    Other job duties include:

    • Hire, train, supervise, develop, and provide support to counter, warehouse, driver, and administrative associates, assisting in day-to-day functions as needed.
    • Work closely with sales managers, account managers, and account reps to provide consistent, responsive, and innovative service to the customers in the market. Meet with customers when appropriate with regard to specific orders or projects in order to help accommodate unusual or complex requirements.
    • Maintain building/grounds and company trucks; order warehouse supplies and maintain overall building security while operating within annual budget guidelines.
    • Monitor and manage location’s inventory control, including on-hand balance adjustments, stock location maintenance, returns, and yearly physical inventory.
    • Work closely with marketing on merchandising, product promotions, counter days and other activities directed at local customers.
    • Comply with, support and reinforce Viking policies and procedures and conform to external safety standards from DOT, OSHA, and other regulatory bodies in order to create a safe working environment for associates.
    • Coordinate operational activities with other distribution centers to ensure the continued and timely flow of delivers, transfers and other services.
    • Secure bids and review capital expenditures for building improvements. Lead efforts for remodels and other construction projects in these facilities by coordinating construction planning and project management.

    • Strong managerial & leadership skills, ability to motivate team and manage conflict

     

    Required Experience

    • Supervisory experience preferred
    • Sales/counter sales experience preferred
    • Customer service experience preferred 
    • Five years experience within operations, logistics, warehouse or distribution environment
    • Knowledge of Viking Electric’s systems, processes, products, and market knowledge preferred
