Medical Assistant Float - A health professional who supports the work of providers by using advanced knowledge and learned skill sets from an accredited educational program. The float position requires an ability to report to any AFC Urgent Care locations in the Portland Metropolitan area, dependent on operational needs.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
A high school diploma or GED required
Graduates of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent on-the-job training
Experience in a medical office setting, 1 year or more required. Urgent Care is a plus
Certified X-ray (RT or LXMO) capabilities are a plus

If interested, you can join our limited-scope radiography (LXMO) classes with our in-house instructor who can guide you through the process and prep for board exams as certified by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging.

Pay and Benefits:

$21.25 - $28 + Per hour, DOE

Locations: AFC Portland is growing to meet the needs of our community, and the Medical Assistant float position allows us to adequately staff any clinic location in need of additional support. Location flexibility and reliable transportation are a requirement for the float position.

What We Need: We are currently seeking energetic, driven, and team-oriented Medical Assistants who have superior communication skills, attention to detail, and who can focus on high-quality patient care. The job entails compassionately assisting our patients and supporting our providers in order to serve our patients with both exceptional and efficient medical care. A sense of urgency while maintaining calm and collection is an important attribute.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: The duties will be performed in accordance with policy and procedure, the standard of care, and in accordance with state certification. The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform and assist in nursing procedures under the supervision of an AFC provider
Complete full triage and vitals
Skill Sets needed at AFC: Triaging, vaccinations, blood draws, drug screens, set up of EKGs
Knowledge of procedures and protocols for occupational medicine and physicals
Experience using EMR
Ensure up-to-date EMR patient records, and provide instructions as directed by the provider
Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, and prepare sterilization as required
Process messages from patients and front office staff to AFC providers accordingly
Maintain clear documentation of all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)
Assisting The Medical Front Office Receptionist with duties such as scheduling and checking in patients and completing insurance verification as needed.
All other duties as assigned by the Clinic Manager.
