Company Overview American Family Care (AFC) is a primary and urgent care company providing services seven days a week on a walk-in basis. Our new state-of-the-art center focuses on the episodic treatment of acute illnesses and injuries, workers' compensation, and occupational medicine. This location is equipped with an onsite lab and in-house x-ray capability.
Job Summary Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.
Responsibilities
Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to instructions
Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
Maintain complete and accurate documentation

Qualifications Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
