The Role
AFM is hiring a Staff Accountant to own bookkeeping, financial processing, and month-end reporting for our growing business. You will report to the Vice President of Finance and work closely with the CEO to support their day-to-day visibility of the Company’s accounts and remittances.
The ideal candidate is experienced in corporate bookkeeping & accounting and able to learn AFM’s daily and weekly operational accounting processes. AFM uses Quickbooks Online for corporate accounting and a mix of cloud-based and legacy systems for cash and daily accounting.
Responsibilities:
- Operate independently as the key contributor to the daily and monthly financial close process including journal entries, bank reconciliation, and P&L reporting.
- Fully own the operational aspects of various processes like sales commissions, client remittances, and daily cash receipt reconciliation.
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Develop, implement, document, and maintain internal accounting procedures.
- Perform specialized calculations and reconcile difficult discrepancies.
- Help facilitate the transition of accounting software.
- Assist with preparing tax return support and various state and local licensing requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- •2+ years in a traditional accounting role with monthly close experience.
- •Excellent knowledge of GAAP accounting regulations and procedures.
- •Hands-on experience with accounting software (we use QuickBooks Online).
- •Strong Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
- •Experience with general ledger functions like journal entries, amortization, and bank reconciliation.
- •Excellent communication and organizational skills.
