    American Friends of the Hebrew University (AFHU) is a national nonprofit helping to connect Hebrew University’s world-class programs with institutional partners and philanthropic individuals. AFHU’s Manager of Grant Proposals and Donor Reports is an excellent opportunity for a grant writer with at least 3 years of experience in institutional giving, either in higher education or a similarly complex organization.

    Manager of Proposals and Donor Reports

    Reporting to the Director of Foundation Relations, the Manager of Grant Proposals and Donor Reports will draft compelling proposals and related materials. S/he will also administer and help create stewardship reports to donors and AFHU’s Trustee-led Grants Committee.

    The Manager will have extensive interaction with AFHU’s national and regional teams and colleagues based at the University. This is a special opportunity to work as part of a congenial, high-level, and fast-paced team. Prior experience writing proposals in higher education or science/medicine is a plus.

    Responsibilities

    • Assists with drafting of compelling proposals and related materials.
    • As the liaison between the University and AFHU’s regional offices, manages the donor reporting process, including tracking and editing.
    • Coordinates AFHU’s Grants Committee Report.
    • Collaborates on other projects as-needed, including assistance with prospect research, administrative and database tasks, and related Foundations Team requests.

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years of nonprofit proposal-writing experience is required, with the ability to explain complex information to a lay reader.
    • Able to prioritize, manage time, and meet multiple deadlines.
    • Able to effectively communicate with diverse, often high-level stakeholders, including faculty members, foundation executives, and AFHU/HU lay leaders.
    • Accepts direction, works cooperatively with others, and takes advantage of in-service, skill- building opportunities.
    • Able to take the lead in seeking out additional information as needed.
    • Experience writing for healthcare, research, or higher-ed preferred.
    • Strong proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs.
    • Experience with Raiser’s Edge a plus.
