    Job Description

    The Opportunity: The Restaurant Manager is located at the AG Retail Flagship Los Angeles location and partners closely with the Store Leadership Team, Restaurant Leadership Team, and People & Culture Business Partner. This role is responsible for overseeing all Front-of-House and Back-of-House restaurant operations while delivering an exceptional guest experience that reflects American Girl’s mission of “Celebrating Girls." You would be leading with hospitality, accountability, and care ensuring service excellence, operational consistency, team development, and financial performance.     What Your Impact Will Be:

    Customer Service & Guest Experience

    • Supervise and model exceptional hospitality standards across the dining room and private party spaces.

    • Maintain a visible leadership presence during service to support staff and guests.

    • Ensure dining room and private dining room ambiance is consistently upheld.

    • Oversee resolution of guest service issues, using sound judgment and professionalism.

    • Ensure special guest requests (birthdays, allergies, dietary needs, accommodations) are handled graciously and consistently.

    • Oversee kitchen execution to ensure food quality, consistency, presentation, and special requests are met.

    • Monitor service standards for all positions, providing real-time coaching and feedback.

    • Share relevant information with guests regarding restaurant offerings, store events, and private parties.

    • Analyze guest feedback, food trends, and product mix to support menu and concept evolution.

    Restaurant Operations & Policy Compliance

    • Oversee all Front-of-House and Back-of-House operations, including opening/closing procedures, guest service, ordering, and maintenance.

    • Maintain consistent standards for cleanliness, safety, food quality, and overall restaurant operations.

    • Ensure compliance with all City, State, and County food and beverage regulations.

    • Adhere to and enforce all company, store, and department policies and procedures.

    • Manage payroll, scheduling, inventories, vendor setup, blanket PO accounts, and supply ordering.

    • Ensure side work completion, daily pre-shift communication, and accurate coaching documentation.

    • Execute company programs and initiatives, including Special Events and GOTY.

    • Maintain sanitation, safety, and cleanliness standards to achieve successful health inspections.

    • Oversee reservation flow and guest experience in partnership with RSS and Hosts.

    • Utilize POS, Infogenesis, Zomato, JTech Paging, and Microsoft Office systems in accordance with company policy.

    • Follow all alcohol distribution, reconciliation, and compliance procedures.

    • Maintain proficiency in required systems and reporting tools.

    Staff Development & Performance Management

    • Lead the development, coaching, and performance management of restaurant staff.

    • Drive seasonal hiring and onboarding in partnership with the Restaurant Leadership Team and People & Culture Business Partner.

    • Delegate responsibilities equitably to ensure balanced workloads and operational efficiency.

    • Ensure service and training standards are consistently met through hands-on leadership and recognition.

    • Conduct performance evaluations in alignment with company guidelines.

    • Proactively address performance concerns and partner with People & Culture to implement corrective actions when needed.

    Financial Management

    • Achieve restaurant financial goals through effective planning and execution.

    • Analyze business trends to adjust staffing, inventory, and operating strategies.

    • Manage food costs, labor expenses, and overall operating expenses within budget guidelines.

    • Maintain accurate inventory systems, including supplier data, pricing, purchase orders, invoices, and recipe builds.

    • Ensure invoices are accurate, resolved promptly, and submitted to MGSSA in a timely manner.

    Partnership & Communication

    • Maintain consistent, professional communication with all American Girl team members.

    • Participate in weekly management and store-wide meetings.

    • Promote teamwork and collaboration across departments.

    • Conduct weekly calls with the Regional Restaurant Manager.

    • Partner with Store Leadership to support events, promotions, and programs.

    • Lead weekly meetings with Kitchen and Front-of-House supervisors.

    • Collaborate with the Store Director and leadership team on strategy and execution.

    Qualifications

    What We’re Looking For:

    • 3-5 years of previous restaruant management experience in high-voulme or guest-focused environment required.

    • Experience leading both Front-of-House and Back-of-House teams preferred.

    • Current State Sanitation Certificatiom, prefered.

    • ServSafe, preferred

    • Safe Alcohol Consumption Certification, preferred.

    • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.

    • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    • Proficiency with POS systems, reservation platforms, and Microsoft Office.

    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

    The pay range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base pay will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
