Job Description
• Develop understanding of safety requirements to work in large machine
shop environment.
• Obtain exposure and involvement with tasks required for the machinist
position.
• Learn how to operate machines, use hand tools and inspection gages
Qualifications
• Follows safety rules and requirements
• Accountable to follow instructions of Machine Shop personnel
• Demonstrate correct operation of machinery and hand tools
• Technical Skills - Knowledge of machining processes and procedures.
General understanding of inspection equipment, tooling, metal
processing, and shop safety
• Language Skills - Ability to read, and interpret blue prints including
dimensional and finish symbols. Ability to effectively present inquiries
and respond to questions from engineers, machinists, and others
• Mathematical - Ability to understand and calculate dimensional and
quantity figures in both fractions and decimals. Along with ability to apply
concepts of basic algebra and geometry
• Reasoning - Ability to interpret work instructions and procedures. Identify
problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Computer – Competent in clocking in and off of work routing
• Physical – must occasionally list and/or move up to 40 pounds
• Work Environment – comfortable working in loud environment. Required
personal protective equipment worn including safety glasses, steel-toed
shoes, and ear protection
_ Education:_
Enrollment in the York County School of Technology (YCST) 4 year preemployment
Machining program. Individual shall be in the 3rd or 4th year of the
program
