    Job Description

     

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

    Obtain, compile and interpret required documentation for residential loans to be submitted for approval.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Secures verification of all information as reflected on the application and directed by the Loan Officer.
    2. Prints all loan package documentation and forms.
    3. Furnish status reports to designated managers.
    4. Compile all necessary documents for loan approval, including PMI, VA, FHA, Investor and permanent loan file requirements.
    5. Maintain records necessary to department for reporting purposes.
    6. Communicates with borrowers, builders and realtors on the status of their loan file(s).
    7. Verifies that all incoming documents are sufficient for qualifying the applicant.
    8. Communicates with loan officers and managers as to file acceptance or any additional information required or problems that require attention.
    9. Ability to interpret applications, loan documents and all types of financial information.
    10. Ability to make mathematical calculations accurately.
    11. Ability to be versatile, work under pressure and work closely and effectively with other employees.
    12. Requires an understanding of investor requirements, especially FNMA, FHA and VA.
    13. Perform all other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    1. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, the general public and other employees of the organization.
    2. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
    3. CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS: Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions; ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situation of a routine nature.
    4. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Under general direction, working from policies and general directives; rarely refers specific cases to supervisor unless clarification or interpretation of the organization’s policy is required.
    5. PLANNING: Considerable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner and/or sequence of performance of own work; in addition, the work operations of a group of employees all performing basically the same type of work.
    6. DECISION-MAKING: Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and also frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance, either of which would affect the work operations of medium organizational component and the organization’s clientele.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

    The Mortgage Processor is continuously required to reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; regularly required to sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and frequently required to stand, taste or smell; occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, continuously lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Primarily works indoors. Noise level is moderate.

     REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

    High school diploma or GED equivalent, plus specialized schooling and/or on-the-job education in a specific skill area (i.e. E.G., Data Processing, Clerical/Administrative, Equipment Operation, etc.); plus 12-18 months’ of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

    This position reports directly to the Executive Vice President, Mortgage Division.
