We are looking for 5 talented American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters for the school year.
Hourly Rate Range: $42.00-$56.00 per hour
Responsibilities would include:
- Provide sign language interpretation for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH) in classroom, small group, and school-related settings.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers using American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods as appropriate.
- Interpret instructional content, classroom discussions, meetings, and school activities.
- Adapt interpretation style to match the student’s language level and communication needs.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure effective communication access for students.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards and ethics.
- Assist in promoting independence and self-advocacy skills for students.
- Maintain accurate documentation as required by the school and district.
- Stay up to date with best practices in educational interpreting.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent preferred.
- South Carolina Educational Interpreter certification or credential (as required by the South Carolina Department of Education – SCDE).
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Fingerprint Clearance & Background Check required.
