POSITION OVERVIEW
The Safety Manager is responsible for implementing all safety, health, security and environmental programs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations while meeting all company goals to ensure a safe work environment.
RESPONSIBILTIES
· Access varied systems to verify clearances of employees, visitors and contractors requesting access to restricted areas.
· Conduct investigations and evaluate risk management claim information to identify significant hazards and loss trends; identify and recommend preventive measures and corrective actions.
· Control all data entry and filing of safety programs, incidents and safety-related training.
· Develop a culture in the facility wherein safety is always the first priority.
· Develop programs and write policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety-related regulations.
· Develop a programmatic environmental program to evaluate the potential
· Environmental effects from past, current and potential future operations.
· Investigate or cause to be investigated all incidents of a security nature.
· Monitor medical care of any employee injured at the facility; monitor restrictions and work assigned to any employee on modified duty due to injury received at the facility.
· Perform regular physical inspections of grounds, buildings, equipment, and operations; identify hazards and incidents of regulatory non-compliance, and recommend corrective measures.
· Prepare and submit compliance documentation as needed to the federal, state and local authorities.
· Provide on-site security and control access, observing, detecting, and reporting violations.
· Provide regulatory information, technical consultation and training, and information on company policies regarding environmental issues to staff.
· Provide security to Human Resources or other departments as needed due to specific situations.
· Provide immediate feedback to Shift Leaders on product quality results and adherence to quality standards and to make determination to place production on quality hold
· Works with Shift Leaders, Technical Specialists, Line Leads, Line Support, Operators and Maintenance resources for resolution of product quality issues
· Collaborate with Production Manager and Shift Leaders to drive prevention versus detection of defects
· Assist Marketing in the resolution of all customer complaints
· Contact person for NCR’s processing and approvals
· Identify and lead quality improvement initiatives
· Develop and execute quality based training programs
· Liaison for customers on quality standards and practices
· Provide Quality Department support for the annual facility nonfood GMP factory assessment
· Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
· High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
· Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, DEQ, EPA, ANSI and federal, state, and local regulations.
· Minimum of 3 years in Safety, Environmental & Security Management or
· Minimum of 7 years in Production Supervision with responsibility for safety enforcement within a team including: incident investigation; hazard recognition and abatement; presenting safety topics; documenting disciplinary actions.
· Safety and/or Environmental Certification required.
· 30 Hour OSHA class required.
· Assist other divisions within the company in regards to safety, environmental and security
SKILLS & ABILITIES
· Ability to conduct inspections of buildings, grounds and equipment for safety, environmental and security reasons.
· Ability to design, implement, and control a safety, environmental and security program.
· Conduct safety & environmental site inspections.
· Demonstrate excellent communication skills including the ability to correspond verbally and in writing with regulatory compliance agencies, and company management and operations personnel.
· Demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills including leadership and supervisory skills.
· Develop, prepare, and present all employee safety training.
· Interpersonal/human relations skills.
· Maintain record keeping that meets or exceeds federal law.
· Manage, review & implement the safety, environmental & security programs.
· Must be able to prepare presentations and training programs, and present within public speaking arenas.
· Planning/organizational skills.
· Proficient personal computer skills, including MS Office based word processing spreadsheet and presentation programs
· Provide consultation and recommendations.
· Review all incidents and incident investigations.
· Verbal and written communication skills.
· Write & review assigned safety, environmental & security programs.

Internal:
· Need to develop and maintain a strong and professional relationship with all managers, supervisors, and employees

· Develop professional relationships with regulatory agencies.
· Develop mutually beneficial relationships with outside vendors.
· Investigate new programs and products presented by vendors.
This position offers a desk and a computer with email, but mostly requires work in a dusty environment with noise levels up to 90 dB , moving mechanical parts, industrial lighting, air that is not conditioned. Proper PPE required. Must have the ability to safely lift up to 70 lbs. as needed. Must be able to work 8-12 hours per shift. Must be able to sit, bend, stand and walk during scheduled shift.
