    Job Description

    American Youth Academy is an Islamic-based private school located in Tampa, Florida. AYA is one of the fastest-growing communities in the entire country. AYA was established in 1992 and currently serves 960 students grades pre-K through 12, increasing every year.     Job Type: Full-Time, 10 months.

To excel in this role, you must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as in-depth knowledge of classroom activities and teaching methods.

    Candidate Qualifications:

    High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

    A Bachelor's degree in education or a relevant field is preferred.

    A minimum of 2 years experience as a teaching assistant or similar role.

    Solid understanding of classroom activities and teaching best practices.

    Must have a compassionate and positive attitude.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Outstanding interpersonal and presentation abilities.

    Responsibilities:

    Assists the teacher in performing duties such as running errands, designing and setting up bulletin boards, classroom decorations, displays of student activities, etc., within the learning environment.

    Performs a variety of clerical tasks such as keyboarding, copying, stapling, filing, locating and assembling materials, laminating, etc.

    Maintains accurate and complete records of student activities and behavior which may require the use of a computer terminal to enter student information and data;

    Completes applicable forms, schedules, and instructional reports, as directed.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Working with the lead teacher to monitor the class schedule.

    Assisting teachers with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment.

    Revising lesson material with students individually or in small groups.

    Teacher's Assistant

    Job Description

    Ensuring the classroom environment is safe and clean.

    Overseeing students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch, and other duties.

    Collaborating with lead teachers to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions.

    Helping lead teachers to create lesson plans.

    Complying with school, and class rules and regulations.

    Attending all training classes, parent conferences, and faculty meetings.

    Uses basic classroom technology for instruction.

    Hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am-4pm and if morning duties are assigned, please go to designated area by 7:30am or specific time assigned.

    Physical Demand:

    The Assistant Teacher spent most of the day standing and sitting in the classroom. While standing, the TA will frequently hold light objects they are working on and demonstrating, etc. These can be held from waist level to slightly above the TAs head. TAs must be able to walk through the classroom and maneuver in tight spaces between desks. Dealing with students can entail kneeling or squatting, stooping, and bending from 50-70 degrees at the waist on an occasional to the frequent basis on a given day. The chalkboard or whiteboard is occasionally too frequently used, requiring grasping the chalk or marker or eraser, reaching, below, or above shoulder height with the dominant upper extremity, and may require trunk or neck rotation to look back at class.

    The TAs often move students' desks and chairs to change the classroom layout to influence teaching situations. It is occasionally necessary to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds from the office to the classroom up to 200 feet away.

    Environmental Demands:

    This position works in various settings, including classrooms and outdoors, and may experience heat or cold extremes and fumes, odors, dust, and the noise level is moderate to loud.
