PastryStar is located in Laurel, MD. Since 1986, the company has been manufacturing high quality, clean-label bakery ingredients (such as powder mixes and baking fruit jams and fillings). Our core customers are industrial bakeries, in-store bakeries, and cruise lines.

We are looking for a Purchasing Specialist to join our team!

The responsibilities are as follows:

In charge of negotiating and buying raw materials

Transfers inventory from one location to another

Ensuring inventory is available in order to produce

Reviews open sales orders to determine customer requirements

Utilize ERP system to auto‐generate manufacturing work orders

Release manufacturing work orders to the warehouse for kit picking

Coordinate with warehouse on material shortages

Notify Sales of any schedule impacts to customers

Completes status reports, such as production progress, customer information and materials inventory

Plans and establishes production schedules

Coordinates with customer service to update customers on product availability

Decides operation plan for out-of-stock items

Performs other duties as required

Qualifications:

Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods

Excellent communication skills

Ability to interact well with internal and external customers

In‐depth knowledge of ERP or MRP software

Microsoft Dynamics Navision experience is a plus

Minimum of high school diploma

5 years of purchasing experience

Production planning experience (preferred)
