We deliver secure, high-quality language solutions in 80+ spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies.

    We are seeking Amharic Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Amharic, widely spoken in Ethiopia, is a critical African language often required for asylum and immigration interviews.

    Responsibilities

    Provide real-time Amharic ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.

    Interpret with accuracy, neutrality, and professionalism in immigration and legal contexts.

    Maintain confidentiality and comply with USCIS/DHS standards.

    Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.

    Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and QA audits.

    Qualifications

    Native or near-native fluency in Amharic and English.

    2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, healthcare, or government preferred).

    Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.

    Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.

    Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
