    Job Description

    The Analytical Chemistry Operations Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the smooth functioning of two early-stage discovery laboratories. This position supports scientists by maintaining instrumentation, managing inventory, and optimizing lab workflows—allowing researchers to focus on breakthrough discoveries.

    Key Responsibilities

    _ Instrumentation Support & Maintenance_

    • Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs for analytical instruments (e.g., HPLC/UPLC, FPLC/AKTA, Biotage/Isco systems, balances, KF instruments).
    • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform hands-on maintenance when appropriate.
    • Prepare buffers, eluents, and mobile phases for purification systems.
    • Maintain accurate instrument logs and service records.

    _ Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination_

    • Manage inventory systems for reagents, chemicals, and consumables.
    • Implement sample tracking systems and ensure timely ordering of lab supplies.
    • Receive and organize incoming materials, making independent purchasing decisions for routine needs.

    _ Lab Operations & Safety_

    • Serve as the lab’s Safety Representative, conducting inspections and ensuring compliance.
    • Optimize chemical and sample storage, manage MAQs, and support waste disposal procedures.
    • Collaborate with scientists to improve lab layout and operational efficiency.

    _ Process Optimization_

    • Identify opportunities to reduce downtime and improve workflows.
    • Develop and refine systems for inventory and sample management.
    • Recommend infrastructure improvements to enhance lab functionality.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    _ Required:_

    • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline with 3–4 years of relevant lab experience.
    • Proficiency with inventory/procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
    • Hands-on experience with chromatography systems and/or automated synthesis equipment.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and proactively solve problems.

    _ Preferred:_

    • Experience with oligonucleotide synthesizers or synthetic chemistry environments.
    • Familiarity with implementing inventory systems and basic instrument troubleshooting.
    • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restriction or sponsorship.

    _ What to Expect in the Hiring Process:_

    • 10-15 Minute Phone Interview with Region Recruiter
    • 45-60 Minute Virtual Interview with Manager and/or Group Leader
    • 45-60 Minute In-Person Meeting to Meet the Team and Discuss the Role

    Additional Details:

    This is a full-time, onsite position based on a first-shift schedule (Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm), with overtime required as needed. Candidates located within a commutable distance to Boston, Massachusetts, are strongly encouraged to apply.
