  • Responsibilities

    The System Architect provides strategic technical leadership on complex high profile end-to-end projects. Their role is focused on the leading edge of new product conceptualization, product specification and integrated system design. They utilize past experience in complex developments to help guide the development, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams effectively to the new solution.

     

    System Architects analyze feature requirements for new or developing products or product lines, transform market requirements into engineering specifications and lead product line architecture or system level design teams.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The System Architect will perform the following duties:

    • Design / architect of software solutions that span multiple discrete parts of an entire customer solution
    • Analyze functional and market requirements to produce optimized engineering specifications
    • Excellent communication and documentation skills
    • Produce system level design documentation
    • Lead design and performance reviews for design and requirement compliance
    • Manage requirements through the product lifecycle
    • The ability to understand, interpret, and rationalize solutions to complex problems
    • Ability to work in diverse cross functional development teams including resources both foreign and domestic
    • Translate technical architecture into work items for development team to implement

    Required Skills

    The System Architect should have experience with multiple of the following:

    • RF Communications
    • Linux networking
    • IPV4/IPV6
    • IEEE 802.15.4
    • DHCP/DHCPv6
    • SIT Tunneling
    • TCP/UDP
    • QoS
    • HTTP/HTTPS
    • IPSEC/IKE
    • TLS

    • Neighbor Discovery and Secure Neighbor Discovery
    • DNS-SD / Multicast DNS (mDNS)
    • NAT/NAT64
    • MPLS
    • DNP3/ModbusThe System Architect must have the following skills/abilities:
    • Required Skills/Abilities
    • Experience with the implementation and troubleshooting of IPV4/IPv6 networking  
    • Experience defining software/firmware requirements 
    • The ability to plan and estimate development tasks, ideally within an Agile framework 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to convey complex topics to senior executive management, to customers and to software/firmware development teams 
    • Ability to work in small teams, as well as independently, with minimal supervision 
    • Self-starter, well organized and ability to work following processes and methodologies
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills  
    • Work Experience Number of Years
    • Minimum of 5+ years designing IP-centric products and solutions
    • Minimum of 5+ years in Software and/or Solution Architecture

     

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

    • Knowledge of the utility industry (Electric, Gas, Water)

    PROFESSIONAL DUTIES

    • Represent Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both external and internal customers
    • Support and adhere to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy
    • Perform other duties as assigned or required

    Required Experience

    • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering, MS preferred
