    The Sr. RF/Microwave Engineer is responsible for the design of RF and microwave components/circuits for the business unit. The Engineer will help identify skill gaps and develop others. The ideal candidate will work closely with customers to gather requirements, determine customer requirements and translate those requirements to various divisions so that customer's needs are fulfilled.  Under minimal supervision with broad scope of responsibility, perform complex activities relating to the design, analysis, qualification, testing and evaluation of new or revised designs.

     

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide support from initial concept through production on assigned projects
    • Provide technical expertise and direction to technicians and more junior engineering personnel
    • Actively participate in the development and support of defined goals for the assigned group
    • Responsible for product development from design through production release
    • Determine circuitry needed to get desired outcome
    • Use software package/development tools to analyze performance of circuits
    • Review performance of each build
    • Develop documentation for other engineers from other disciplines
    • Requires an understanding of all parts of the process
    • Interact with other engineering disciplines
    • Work to develop customer relationships through collaboration, respect, professionalism, trust and integrity
    • Listen to and understand customer requirements and take prompt, appropriate action that exceeds expectation
    • Anticipate evolving customer technical and business needs and develop and/or execute the roadmap that exceeds customer expectations and requirements
    • Performs state-of-the-art product development activities, including identifying and making recommendations on design trade-offs, and implementation of customer specifications
    • Make technical recommendations/decisions on projects and develop engineering statements of work, cost and manpower estimates for proposed projects and present technical design reviews within the company and to customers
    • Serves as a technical leader, helps identify skills gaps and develops others


    Required Skills

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including a high level of customer interface
    • Practical microwave design experience in the frequency range of 1 to 40 GHz
    • Ability to use advanced design tools such as AutoCAD, Ansoft Designer, HFSS, Matlab
    • Excellent documentation, organization and time management skills
    • Ability to act as a technical lead and mentor on military and space projects
    • Ability to write specifications and proposals, and present technical material
    • Self-motivated and goal oriented
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
    • Ability to deal with ambiguity


    Required Experience

    Education:

    Master's Degree - Microwave or Electrical Engineering with microwave engineering concentration

     

    Experience:

    6-8 years of relevant experience

    Experience in design and test of RF/Microwave components or subsystems is required

    Military and/or space industry experience preferred

     

    Must be eligible to work on defense and other programs subject to ITAR regulations. Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card); Ability to obtain security clearance.
