    Job Description

    Position Overview

    The Logistics Manager is responsible for all aspects of inbound and outbound deliveries. This individual will be responsible for routing and scheduling all deliveries, both inbound and outbound, development and implementation of delivery policies and procedures. Monitoring delivery intervals and making appropriate adjustments. This position works closely with several departments to ensure that all company logistics are being followed to company standards. A core responsibility is to support the company’s ability to deliver according to its on-time goals.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Manage all shipping transactions across all locations (local, domestic & international)
    • Negotiate carrier contracts by analyzing inbound and outbound lanes
    • Create policies and procedures for logistics activities
    • Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, and frequency
    • Oversee order management function so that orders are shipped on-time and fulfilled within the customers guidelines.
    • Experience in ERP systems, EDI processing, order management, customer service, distribution, financial budgeting, transportation, 3PL management and international logistics/exports.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and openly with cross-functional business partners
    • Work with suppliers, freight forwarder and customs broker to ensure the timely submission of import and export documents
    • 5+ years of experience leading teams, including mentoring, and coaching for success
    • Arrange same-day or expedited deliveries whenever necessary
    • Track and analyze mis-shipments and prepare chargeback reporting for accounting department
    • Perform daily audits and adhere to record keeping requirements for all international transactions
    • Maintain knowledge of US and foreign regulations regarding international shipment and ensure compliance with all import/export documentation and regulatory requirements
    • Support finance department in preparing and filing monthly tax returns for export shipments
    • Proactively identify and execute performance improvement and cost savings projects
    • Track and manage DC transfers and receiving
    • Maintain familiarity with compliance manuals and EDI requirements for all major stores
    • Maintain the Logistics/Vendor Requirements documents
    • Manage and maintain shipment trackers and communicate weekly shipping status to sales and order management teams
    • Develop and maintain business metrics and reports
    • Prepare accurate bills of lading when needed in a timely manner
    • Collaborate with team, internal business partners and external carrier associates on all international consolidation to ensure freight release and timely delivery
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

     

    • 5+years of import/export operational experience with a shipper, carrier, importer, broker or 3PL
    • Heavy International background
    • Experience in domestic transportation/tendering loads
    • Experience with export shipments from the US to UK, EU, via various incoterms. EXWORKS, FOB and DDP
    • Experience in the VAT (Value added tax) recovery process
    • Experience in Duty Drawback programs
    • Intermediate/Advanced skills in MS Office Applications (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point, Google Documents)
