Transportation Manager- High Volume Supply Chain
Anatolia Tile & Stone is a leading importer and distributor of ceramic and stone tile and is a major supplier to some of the largest distributors throughout the United States and Canada. Based in Toronto, Anatolia Tile & Stone is a privately owned 100% Canadian corporation that is growing rapidly. Currently we are looking for an eager, motivated Transportation Manager to join our Supply Chain team.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Transportation Manager is responsible for managing and leading the Transportation team to implement KPIs and achieve departmental targets, improve overall customer service and find solutions to IT systems related to transportation management for continual TMS improvement. This role is accountable for all inbound international and outbound North American freight and will be responsible for negotiating agreements with ocean carriers, truckers, air freight, drayage and 3PLs in the best interest of Anatolia Tile Stone.
Duties & Responsibilities
Proactively plan and manage import and export transportation to ensure appropriate supply levels for meeting customer demand
Liaise and negotiate with suppliers
Keep track of quality, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
Arrange plan routes and process shipments, and manage all compliance requirements
Resolve any arising problems or complaints
Supervise, coach and train various members of the team and be a point of contact resource for other departments
Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets
Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
Ensure all transportation practices comply with applicable laws, regulations and customer and Anatolia requirements
Responsible for the accurate and safe shipping and receiving of finished goods and any required follow-up for vendor compliance
Oversee the coordination and monitor the transportation of goods, including oversight of all shipping documentation, dispatching and tracking goods in transit
Develops proper procedures for the safe transportation and storage of goods to ensure quality and integrity of products
Negotiating the services and rates with freight carriers, as well as setting freight rates and monitoring the revenue
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
BS in Logistics or Supply Chain
7 years demonstrated progressive experience as a Transportation Manager
Demonstrated success and expertise in negotiating freight rates to the advantage of the company
Ability to research and implement cost effective Transportation solutions
Experience leading and mentoring a team
Strong knowledge and understanding of Ocean Carriers, Truckers etc.
Experienced with LTL, 3PL and TL
Demonstrated expertise in collaborating with outside vendors with the ability to build strong relationships and negotiate favorable rates
Experienced in using performance metrics in high performance environments to continuously improve
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate concisely across teams and global regions
Proficient in standard logistics software, ideally highly proficient with SAP
Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Must be an energetic, enthusiastic, self-starter who takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service through highly efficient time management and execution practices
