    Anatolia Tile & Stone is a leading importer and distributor of ceramic and stone tile and is a major supplier to some of the largest distributors throughout the United States and Canada. Based in Toronto, Anatolia Tile & Stone is a privately owned 100% Canadian corporation that is growing rapidly. Currently we are looking for an eager, motivated Director of Finance to join our growing team.

    Position Summary

    The Director of Finance serves as the head of accounting and financial planning & analysis for the North American tile business. The position leads the preparation of external financial reporting, management reporting, budgets & forecasts as well as cash management and maintaining an environment of strong internal controls. It is responsible for analyzing and providing insights into historical financial performance in order to drive informed decisions and improve forecasting. This position oversees a team of financial and accounting professionals.

    The Director of Finance will act as the analytical engine of the company to provide insights to support optimal business decision making.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Financial Control & Oversight

    Analyzes operational and financial data provided by the finance department so that the executive team understands the financial impact of decisions in real-time.

    Prepares, manages, consolidates and delivers the annual plan and quarterly forecasts along with supervision of the revenue recognition process.

    Monitors financial performance, performs gross margin analysis, prepares insightful management reports & dashboards and provides recommendations to support organizational growth and profitability improvements

    Prepares the monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages; produces and analyzes monthly and quarterly financial variance reports

    Oversees the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities, including but not limited to the annual audit, balance sheet review, cash flow, funding requests and allocations/charge-backs.

    Oversees the general administration of the organization, including insurance, equipment purchases and leases, and ensures the company’s assets are protected.

    Reviews and approves the payment process for EFT, cheque and wire payments and ensures that all remittances, including HST and other government requirements, are current.

    Provides insight and recommendations on cost improvements and initiating corrective actions.

    Reviews and implements internal control policies that comply with corporate policies and processes

    Ensures compliance with federal, provincial and state regulators and legislation (GAAP).

    Other duties as assigned.

    Leadership & People Management

    Highly collaborative and actively seeks out opportunities to lead and participate in interdepartmental meetings to improve relations, resolve cross functional issues and drive efficiencies.

    Proven ability to work independently and cross-functionally to drive projects to completion

    Manages key professional relationships for the organization including but not limited to auditors and insurance and benefit providers.

    Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and influence without direct supervisor role

    Commits to delivering an effortless customer experience for both internal and external stakeholders

    Promotes a climate of positive employee relations by maintaining open communications with departments who rely on the services and support of finance.

    Works with a sense of urgency and enacts change effectively

    Focus on staff development, and managing and executing on staff succession and growth plans.

    Mentors and develops the Finance team on managing work allocation, training, and problem resolution.

    Demonstrates an aptitude and passion for effectively leading teams, actively leading by example each day to motivate, inspire and mentor staff to realize goals.

    Conducts training regularly and coaches consistently to ensure employees are taught and can apply essential skills and knowledge to the performance of their daily activities with consistency and effectiveness.

    Must be able to organize and inspire teams to achieve high levels of performance and performance manage team members as needed

    Qualifications

    Post-secondary degree in Accounting; CPA designation required.

    10+ years of leadership experience in both senior accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis roles within a corporate environment.

    Track record of recruiting and developing high performing teams

    Prior distribution/logistics and/or consumer packaged goods industry experience required

    Detail orientation with demonstrated ability to solve critical issues in a timely manner.

    Prior hands-on experience in the automation of the accounting function with the demonstrated ability to integrate systems and operations.

    Experience with designing and implementing policies, procedures, and internal controls as part of due diligence activities.

    Superior spreadsheet skills and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

    Strong quantitative analysis and financial modeling skills

    Advanced understanding of financial statements

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    Solid business acumen with ability to think strategically about business issues

    Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently with multiple and conflicting priorities

    Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and inter-personal skills

    Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic entrepreneurial environment

    Advanced proficiency with SAP an asset
