Anatolia Tile & Stone is a leading importer and distributor of ceramic and stone tile and is a major supplier to some of the largest distributors throughout the United States and Canada. Based in Toronto, Anatolia Tile & Stone is a privately owned 100% Canadian corporation that is growing rapidly. Currently we are looking for eager, motivated Transportation Specialist to join our growing team.
Position Summary
The Transportation Specialist is responsible for finding solutions, negotiating best rates possible and improving service levels for outbound Canada and the US. The specialist is expected to build and maintain relationships with various transportation companies and will work closely with Customer Service and the Transportation Manager.
Please note, this is a 15 month contract, with great potential to lead to full-time
Duties & Responsibilities
Source new freight companies and receive quotes for rate comparisons
Negotiate pricing and terms, manage carrier scorecards appropriately to maximize efficiency and optimize costs
Maintain Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable freight rates
Manage fuel schedule from FCA and update carriers on a timely basis
Schedule transportation loads within SAP, including major customer/Home Centre accounts
Work with carriers, Accounting team on charge backs, invoice discrepancies, etc. and solidify approval process to do so
Troubleshoot delivery issues such as delays and late pickups, etc.
Support Transportation Manager with getting rate calculations and other duties as required
Organize special ad-hoc shipments cost effectively by collecting bids from different carriers to get the best price at the highest service level possible
Work closely with Operations and Supply Chain Department to achieve timely, effective delivery
Monitor carrier performance and implement necessary corrective actions to improve services
Report expected and actual arrival dates to management
Measure and improve logistics processes to deliver supply chain KPI targets On-Time Delivery %, cost, carrier performance, etc.)
Participate in weekly meetings- providing updates on outstanding issues, process improvements, etc.

Qualifications & Requirements
Post-secondary education required, preferably in logistics or similarly related field
Minimum 2-3 years of prior experience in a similar role, preferably with progressive scope of duties
Prior experience in a fast paced logistics type of environment with experience
Demonstrated ability to make sound judgement and allocate work effort and time accordingly relative to the scale of the task and impact on the business
Proficiency with SAP preferred
Team oriented, quick learner, with strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work autonomously, with accuracy and effective execution and with little direction
Exhibit a sense of urgency and be able to demonstrate the ability to solve problems in a fast paces environment
Strong customer service and administrative skills required
Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
