    Anatolia Tile & Stone is a leading importer and distributor of ceramic and stone tile and is a major supplier to some of the largest distributors throughout the United States and Canada. Based in Toronto, Anatolia Tile & Stone is a privately owned 100% Canadian corporation that is growing rapidly. Currently we are looking for an eager, motivated Director of Finance to join our team.

    Position Summary

    The Director of Finance serves as the head of accounting and oversees the preparation of financial reports, compliance audits, monitoring internal controls and participating in the budgeting process. It is responsible for effectively understanding past financial performance in order to accurately predict the organization’s financial future through the application of strategic analysis and tactical execution with oversight for cash management, budgeting, compliance, corporate credit and collections, financial planning and strategic planning. This position oversees a team of financial and accounting professionals for several business units.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Financial Control & Oversight

    Works to correlate operational and financial data provided by the finance department so that the executive team understands the financial impact of decisions in real-time.

    Prepares, manages, consolidates and delivers the annual plan and quarterly forecasts along with supervision of the revenue recognition process.

    Monitors financial performance and provides recommendations to support organizational growth.

    Reviews the invoicing, credit notes, and collections process while assessing credit risks for each customer by monitoring payment trends and average payment days.

    Reviews and approves the payment process for payroll, EFT, check and wire payments and ensures that all remittances, including HST and other government requirements, are current.

    Prepares the monthly financial reporting package; produces and analyzes monthly and quarterly financial variance reports and ensures accounts receivable objectives and metrics are met.

    Oversees the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities, including areas of but not limited to, balance sheet, general ledger, funding requests, accounts payable and allocations/charge-backs.

    Monitors the performance and results of multiple related units including preparation of analysis and dashboard reporting.

    Oversees the general administration of the organization, including insurance, equipment purchases and leases, and ensures the company’s assets are protected.

    Provides insight and recommendations on cost improvements, monitoring financial performance and initiating corrective actions deemed necessary.

    Responsible for the review and implementation of internal control policies that comply with corporate policies and processes.

    Ensures compliance with federal, provincial and state regulators and legislation (GAAP).

    Serves as a point of escalation for A/R and A/P issues.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Leadership & People Management

    Overall accounting/finance team management, staff development, and managing and executing on staff succession and growth plans.

    Mentors and develops the Finance team on managing work allocation, training, and problem resolution.

    Manages key professional relationships for the organization including but not limited to auditors and insurance and benefit providers.

    Demonstrates an aptitude and passion for effectively leading teams, actively leading by example each day to motivate, inspire and mentor staff to realize goals.

    Promotes a climate of positive employee relations by maintaining open communications with the recruitment team and with other departments who rely on the services and support of these teams.

    Conducts training regularly and coaches consistently to ensure employees are taught and can apply essential skills and knowledge to the performance of their daily activities with consistency and effectiveness.

    Carries out a variety of performance management activities, including coaching for peak performance throughout the year and completing appraisals as required.

    Participates in regular meetings as required, participates in various interdepartmental meetings to resolve issues and improve efficiencies as required.

    Qualifications

    Post-secondary degree in Accounting; CPA designation required.

    10 years of experience in a senior accounting role within a corporate environment. Minimum of 2 years managing a group of accounting professionals.

    Must have prior distribution-industry experience and several years of progressive experience managing a team.

    Strong financial management acumen required; knowledge of accounting procedures and protocols, budget administration and financial forecasting, analysis and reporting.

    Prior hands-on experience in the automation of the accounting function, including revenue collection, payments and reporting with the demonstrated ability to integrate systems and operations.

    Advanced proficiency with SAP an asset.

    Superior spreadsheet skills and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

    Excellent communication skills ( both verbal and written) required.

    Demonstrated experience and ability working with complex analysis along with highly developed interpretive and planning skills to solve a varying range of challenges and problems.

    Experience with designing and implementing policies, procedures, and internal controls as part of due diligence activities.

    Strong interpersonal and communication skill and working closely with senior management.

    Must demonstrate a high level of detail and ability to solve critical issues in a timely manner.
