    Job Description

    Ancestry seeks a highly motivated, internet-savvy UX Research, intern to join our team. The User Experience Research team works closely with designers, product managers and developers to deliver compelling experiences that are deeply rooted in our customers’ needs. We guide Ancestry’s product strategy by delivering rich and strategic insights arrived at through a wide range of research strategies and methods. We are deep thinkers, always investigating new and intriguing ways of understanding and evaluating the values, behaviors and motivations of our customers. Our team also possesses strong knowledge of the business and operational needs of our organization, which influences how we work and what we deliver. As a UX Research Intern on the UX Research team you will help coordinate, plan, conduct, synthesize, and communicate research and insights.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO:

    • Partner with senior researchers to develop research plans for usability, generative and exploratory research studies
    • Recruit participants and help manage participant logistics including screening, scheduling, participant communications, managing incentives, and more
    • Conduct a wide variety of studies ranging from usability testing to generative and exploratory research  
    • Collaborate with experienced researchers to synthesize and analyze research data in order to provide internal stakeholders with strategic and actionable insights
    • Explore and test new digital and analog research methods and tools
    • Visualize and communicate research findings to internal stakeholders
    • Teach us a thing or two about what you know!
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    WHO YOU ARE:

    • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s or Ph.D. level degree
    • Must be currently enrolled in a university and graduating after Summer 2019
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented, ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once
    • Some coursework or experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research
    • Nice to have: some experience with visual design
    • Nice to have: pursuing a degree in design, social sciences, psychology, or human computer interaction a plus!
