    Job Description

    Ancestry seeks a highly motivated, internet-savvy UI Engineer intern to join our Web UI team. The Web UI team focuses on solving shared concerns among dozens of UI engineering teams. We innovate performant solutions for our development teams and our end customers. From nitty-gritty CSS details in our shared UI component system to performance evaluations of our NodeJS application-generator, we are all constantly striving to enable our application teams to build as efficiently as possible while maintaining a high level of quality for our customers.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO:

    • Write CSS, JS and HTML to solve shared UI concerns
    • Work with UX team to create and update shareable UI components
    • Contribute to shared NodeJS modules
    • Participate in daily code reviews and pair-programming
    • Gain Agile experience working on-site in two-week sprint cycles
    • Create cool stuff that’ll help teams be faster and more stable
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    WHO YOU ARE:

    • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s or Ph.D. level degree
    • Must be currently enrolled in a university and graduating after Summer 2019
    • Understand the importance of semantic HTML and well-structured CSS
    • Experienced in writing basic client-side JavaScript
    • Desire to add value to the end user however possible
    • Some experience in ReactJS framework is preferred
    • Some experience in NodeJS is preferred
    • Some experience in unit testing is preferred
