    Job Description

    Ancestry seeks a highly motivated, internet-savvy intern to join our Information Security team. The InfoSec team is looking for someone that has a passion in information security, cybersecurity, compliance or risk assessments.   As an intern on the Information Security team you will help other members identify, remediate security risks and improve the overall security posture of the company.  You will also be contributing to secure Ancestry’s infrastructure and provide better assurance to our customers we take seriously the protection and privacy of their data. If you are passionate about Information Security this will be an incredible experience for you. You will work in a professional environment and have ample opportunity to network with department heads and other professionals within your discipline.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO:

    • Perform security assessments and report findings to the team
    • Write code or scripts to help automate security processes.
    • Perform forensic analysis on systems, devices or network traffic.
    • Assist in completing compliance and incident response tasks.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    WHO YOU ARE:

    • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s or Ph.D. level degree
    • Must be currently enrolled in a university and graduating after Summer 2019
    • High level of creativity, quick problem-solving capabilities, and strong analytical skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • One or more of the following -- C#, Java, Python, Ruby, Objective-C, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, SQL, Visual Studio, IntelliJ, Eclipse, NoSQL, Hadoop
    • Experience or have taken classes in information security or cybersecurity areas
    • BONUS: Experience or have taken classes in AWS (Amazon Web Services)
    • BONUS: Familiarity with PCI, HIPPA, SOX, OWASP, Penetration Testing, and Secure coding techniques
