Job Description

Currently we have an opening at our Shakopee, MN plant location for individuals who have a strong interest in pursuing an industrial maintenance career in a manufacturing environment. The position requires the ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic problems, ability to read and understand schematics and ladder logics. A PLC background is a plus.

The Maintenance Apprentice is a full-time position with a starting wage of $25.62 per hour. Wage increases are given every 1000 hours in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, satisfactory performance and apprenticeship program.

Individuals who presently are classified as journeyman maintenance mechanics earn $30.84 per hour.

Individuals will be trained Monday-Friday 8am-4pm and then assigned to a crew to work rotating shifts. Rotating shift work involves working 7 consecutive days of an 8am-4pm shift followed by 3 days off, then working 7 consecutive days of a 12mid-8am shift followed by 2 days off and then working 7 consecutive days of a 4pm-12mid shift followed by two days off and then starting back on the 8-4 shift. This amounts to working 21 days with 7 days off in a 28-day cycle.

The apprenticeship is a four-year program (8,000 hours) and is governed by a federally approved national standards, those who are hired will be required to complete a minimum of 144 hours of approved classroom training each twelve months. Class room training is through local technical schools. These classes are taken during your non-working hours and you are not paid while attending. All courses, text books and fees will be paid at 100% by Anchor Glass Container.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Must be 18 years of age or older
2. High School diploma or equivalent
3. Ability to successfully pass math and mechanical aptitude tests prior to interview process
4. Related experience working in a manufacturing/production environment
5. Drug screen, background check and pre-employment physical
6. Strong work ethic supported by past work history

Desired Qualifications

1. Three years manufacturing maintenance experience
2. Two year technical degree or relevant experience preferred.
3. Work history supporting increased role responsibility
