Job Description
HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL IS A GROWING ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES COMPANY LOCATED IN SOUTHEAST, TEXAS. Horizon Environmental provides nationwide emergency response, environmental remediation, demolition/dismantlement, transportation and disposal, and oilfield services, for both private industry and government agencies.
Horizon Environmental is seeking a Safety Professional to oversee upcoming and on-going projects for the company. The essential elements of the position include, but are not limited to;
· Ensure the entire workplace (including employees) follows industry, state, and other company-related guidelines or rules.
· Conduct routine safety audits of active ongoing projects.
· Carry out safety training programs for company employees on a regular basis.
· Develop processes via which collection of data on the causes of industrial accidents can be done with ease.
· Implement initiatives to reduce the level of work-related accidents and/or occupational hazards.
· Direct and supervise the general safety guidelines and procedures of Horizon Environmental.
· Assist in managing doctor visits for employees and working with workers compensation claims should one occur.
· Investigate accidents to find the root cause and take care of employees’ compensation.
· Inspect and/or monitor the daily operations of employees to make sure they are following safety policies and laws.
· Inspect and check company equipment and machinery to make sure they are not in conditions that are unsafe.
· Report back to company’s top management team as regards to safety adjustments that may be required to be made within the company.
· Manage company Drug and Alcohol testing program.
· Manage third party Contractor Management Systems i.e. ISNetworld, PEC, NCMS, etc.
· Participate in customer safety audits of company and act as the organization’s representative.
Skills/Qualifications:
· Knowledge with managing processes, developing standards, and performance management
· MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint)
· Experience with industrial cleaning, emergency response and remediation operations
· Must be as comfortable working in the field as well as in an administrative setting
· Ability to conduct data analysis via the use of computer applications
· Must always be very observant and pay keen attention to details
· Must be willing to respond to emergency events after hours
· Occasional out of town travel will be required and expected as projects dictate
· Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management preferred
· Preferred 5+ years industry and 2+ years health and safety experience
· Salary $50,000-$60,000 DOE
· Company vehicle
