PROGRAM DESCRIPTION AMP offers paid internships to students or new graduates who are immediately available and can commit to up to a 12-month internship. We provide outstanding education and growth opportunities to qualified, hard-working, self-motivated, poised, and articulate candidates. Internships average 20-40 hours per week, depending on applicant's availability and department needs. INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVES * Acquire an overall view of multiple facets of the media industry * Gain a basic understanding of internal and external communications in a fast-paced business environment * Enhance writing skills with a focus on concise, compelling, persuasive writing for a variety of touch points, including publicity, social media, email and content marketing * Professional development MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR HIRE * Students of or recent graduates with a degree in Communications, Journalism/Strategic Communications, English, or Marketing. Current students must have a minimum of 60 hours of college credit earned at time of application * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe InDesign * Experience working with and writing for social media; LinkedIn experience a plus * Attentive to detail, with outstanding written communication and grammar skills * Able to work autonomously, balance and prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE * Develop high quality, consistent, timely, and relevant communications; includes seeking input from key stakeholders and writing, editing, and curating content for the AMU corporate website company intranet site, and social media * Contribute to the planning and implementation of company events * Write press releases and pitches highlighting company stories for variety of media outlets (broadcast, print, online) * Research audience preferences and discover current trends and best practices in B2B social media * Work to identify key media contacts and outlets to enhance our public relations efforts * Perform research to assist in the identification of communications opportunities and platforms * Execute various administrative tasks as needed ESSENTIAL SKILLS * Writes with exceptional journalistic skill with a designated voice for different audiences * Able to work effectively within cross-functional teams to accomplish goals * Is a creative problem solver; raises issues or questions with a possible solution/course of action * Works comfortably and effectively in a dynamic environment * Builds relationships across numerous stakeholders; comfortable and competent working up, down, and across levels in the organization * Thinks creatively and has a point of view; proactively offers valuable ideas and recommendations 13 hours ago
