Anesthesiologist – Syracuse VA Medical Center (Contract Position)
Location: Syracuse, NY
Pay: $250–$275/hour (Based on experience)
Contract Length: 1-year (with 4 optional renewal years)

We are seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Anesthesiologists to provide comprehensive anesthesia services at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. This is a contract position offering a full-time schedule with on-call responsibilities and an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in veterans’ healthcare.

Job Overview:
You will be responsible for delivering peri-operative anesthesia care including:
Pre-operative evaluations
Intra-operative anesthetic administration and monitoring
Post-anesthesia recovery management
Supporting procedures in OR, ICU, GI/Endo, IR, Cath lab, and for ECT
This role also includes supervision of CRNAs and anesthesia residents, documentation in CPRS/ARK systems, and contribution to quality improvement activities and departmental meetings.
Work Schedule:
Standard Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Call Coverage: Evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled (1.03 FTE on-call)
Availability: Must be reachable within 15 minutes by phone and onsite within 40 minutes when on call

Qualifications:
M.D. or D.O. with completed ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology residency
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology (ABA)
Active medical license and DEA
BLS and ACLS certified (AHA)
Minimum 3–5 years of clinical anesthesia experience preferred
Must complete mandatory VA TMS training and be proficient with anesthesia equipment and electronic record systems (ARK, CPRS)
Scope of Services Includes:
General and regional anesthesia for surgical specialties (e.g., general, ortho, vascular, ENT, thoracic, ophthalmology, urology)
Anesthesia for cardioversion, ECT, and procedures in GI/endo, IR, ICU, and cardiac cath labs
Operative and postoperative care (approx. 10 surgical cases/day)
Inpatient and outpatient consults
Emergency airway management
Post-op rounding and discharge education
Medication management (no samples to be dispensed)
