Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Accounting Clerk is responsible for processing financial transactions including accounts payable and accounts receivable, maintaining financial records, and reconciling bank statements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE:

• Review, verify, and process invoices and expense reimbursements
• Run reports for review
• Mail and distribute checks
• Maintain vendor files

ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE:

• Prepare bank deposit slips
• Record deposits to the general ledger
• Reconcile finance reports with program reports of deposits and revenue accounts
• Prepare program invoices

PAYROLL:

• Journal Entry

GENERAL:

• Complete monthly account reconciliations, revenue and expense allocations, and journal entries
• Assist with preparing month-end and year-end reports
• Assist with annual audit, 1099, 1096, and Form 990
• Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors’ degree in accounting or finance preferred or equivalent.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in an accounting clerical position, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
• High degree of professionalism while maintaining complete confidentiality.
• DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE OF ACCOUNTING AND BUDGETING SOFTWARE, SUCH AS: NETSUITE, QUICKBOOKS, AND SAGE 100.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to foster a cooperative atmosphere in a diverse community.
• Exhibit collegiality and diplomacy within a team environment, display good work ethics and a mature understanding of cultural diversity.
• Demonstrate compassion, competency, and professional accountability for interactions with consumers, stakeholders, colleagues, and others.
• Proficient in MS Office applications and familiar with database programs.
• Flexibility to work regular hours.
