    Job Summary

    Primarily responsible for managing the timely delivery of concrete from plant locations to job sites according to customer requests and expectations while using the most efficient and cost effective processes possible.

    Essential Job Duties/Functions

    Determines the most appropriate staffing level of dispatchers and customer assistance representatives to meet projected sales demands.

    Works closely with dispatchers to ensure the timely distribution and delivery of concrete according to customer needs and requirements.

    Assigns dispatchers to appropriate geographic areas according to knowledge and skills.

    Provides information and training to dispatch employees to ensure timely and accurate feedback to customers and plant locations.

    Maintains company data lines.

    Negotiates and manages company telephone contracts ensuring appropriate pricing and equipment.

    Maintains upkeep and maintenance of company data equipment including telephones.

    Works closely with sales function to ensure equipment availability and utilization for specific projects and jobs.

    Analyzes and reviews yardage and delivery reports to ensure optimum asset utilization.

    Handles customer questions and problems as needed.

    Maintains dispatch equipment and radios in good working order.

    Stays abreast of changes in technology and the industry through active participation in professional organizations.

    Communicates with mixer drivers, plant managers, production managers and operations manager on a frequent and regular basis to avoid or address issues, concerns or problems.

    Monitors mixer truck status on a constant basis to ensure customer satisfaction and maximum equipment and labor utilization.

    Works closely with operations to ensure drivers are in compliance with local, state and federal safety and DOT guidelines and regulations.

    Works closely with remote dispatch offices to move equipment and people to meet customer demands.

    Attends sales meetings to get/give information regarding scheduling of plants and equipment to meet customer needs.

    Adjusts dispatch schedule as needed to reflect current and accurate information.

    Visits remote dispatch locations to audit policies, procedures and processes and observe.

    Communicates with plant, production and operations managers daily to advise of mixer driver start and finish times.

    Coordinates training/orientation in dispatch function for new hires.

    Other duties as assigned by manager.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience (Required = R; Preferred = P)

    High school diploma or equivalent required.

    Minimum five years of work experience required (Construction or concrete industry experience preferred) with a minimum of two years in a dispatch role.

    Experience as a concrete mixer driver is preferred.

    Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

    Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.

    Demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks.

    Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with computer hardware.

    Demonstrated experience working with personal computer.

    Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

    Demonstrated ability to work with basic mathematics to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division (including fractions)

    Demonstrated ability to read and interpret maps and directions.

    Physical Requirements

    Extended periods of sitting in chair, looking at CRT screen.

    Extended periods of standing and walking on concrete surfaces.

    Occasional climbing steps.

    Occasional standing, bending, kneeling and stooping.

    Occasional reaching, grabbing, pulling and pushing.

    Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 25 lbs.

    Frequent use of fingers, wrists and hands to enter data using a keyboard.

    Extended periods looking at CRT screen.

    Environmental Conditions (Personal protective equipment is provided where required or requested)

    Job is performed primarily indoors in a climate-controlled office environment.

    Extended exposure to CRT screen.
