The Animal Care & Clinic Support Technician plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient clinical environment while supporting both animal care and veterinary operations. This position ensures the highest standards of sanitation, assists with basic animal handling and monitoring, and supports the medical team in delivering quality care to animals within the clinic.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment by cleaning and disinfecting kennels, cages, runs, treatment areas, bathrooms, and common spaces
- Observe animal behavior and promptly report any signs of illness, injury, or distress to veterinary staff
- Handle animals safely and compassionately at all times, including proper restraint techniques when necessary
- Walk and monitor dogs before and after surgery as directed by veterinary staff
- Launder bedding, towels, and other materials to ensure a consistent supply of clean items
- Dispose of waste, biohazard materials, and recycling in accordance with clinic safety and sanitation protocols
- Assist veterinary staff with basic support tasks as needed to ensure efficient clinic operations
- Clean and disinfect transportation vehicles and transport kennels after each use
- Maintain outdoor walking areas by removing debris and ensuring a safe environment for animals and staff
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in animal care, veterinary clinics, or shelter environments preferred
- Ability to safely handle animals of varying sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions
- Basic understanding of sanitation and infection control practices preferred

- Ability to safely restrain animals when necessary

- Exposure to animals with unknown medical histories
- Frequent cleaning and use of disinfectants and cleaning agents
