Animal Intake and Foster Coordinator

We are a nonprofit sanctuary and rescue facility on 100 breathtaking acres in Northwest Florida, dedicated to saving animals, healing them, and helping them find forever homes. We are looking for a dedicated individual with good communication skills to join our compassionate team as a Intake & Foster Coordinator.
What You’ll Do:
The Intake and Foster Coordinator plays a vital role in the lifesaving mission of our animal rescue by overseeing the intake of animals into our care and managing the foster program that supports them. This position ensures a smooth transition for animals entering the organization, from intake and evaluation to placement in loving foster homes. The I/F Coordinator will collaborate closely with Veterinary Clinic staff, Animal Care staff and the Adoptions team to provide each animal with the care, compassion, and attention they deserve while preparing them for adoption.
Key Responsibilities:
Animal Intake Coordination
- Manage and evaluate incoming animal requests, including owner surrenders, shelter transfers, and emergency intakes
- Coordinate transport logistics and ensure proper documentation and health assessments upon intake
- Maintain accurate intake records and ensure animals are entered into the shelter software system in a timely manner
- Work with veterinary staff to communicate any immediate medical needs of new admissions
Foster Program Management
- Recruit, screen, and onboard new foster families
- Match animals to appropriate foster homes based on temperament, medical needs, and household dynamics
- Provide ongoing support and communication to foster families, including regular check-ins and training
- Track and manage the status of foster animals, ensuring medical and behavioral needs are addressed
- Maintain updated foster rosters and records in the organization’s database
What We're Looking For
- Passion for animal welfare and commitment to the mission of rescue and rehabilitation
- Prior experience working or volunteering in an animal shelter, rescue, or foster program strongly preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Comfortable working with a variety of animals, including those that may be fearful or medically compromised
- Computer literacy, including use of shelter management software (e.g. Shelterluv), Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Must be able to work Full Time hours 8am to 4:30pm
