About the Role:

Nextgen Biologics in Alachua, FL is looking for a passionate and dedicated Animal Care Specialist to join our growing team. Responsibilities:

Provide daily care, feeding, and husbandry for research animals in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards

Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting any concerns to veterinary or research staff

Maintain clean, sanitary, and safe animal housing facilities

Assist research staff with animal handling, sample collection, and study procedures

Maintain accurate records of animal care activities, treatments, and observations

Ensure compliance with IACUC, USDA, and AAALAC guidelines and protocols

Support inventory management of animal care supplies and equipment

Requirements:

Prior experience in animal care, veterinary technology, or a research animal facility preferred

Knowledge of laboratory animal husbandry and biosafety procedures

AALAS certification (ALAT or LAT) is a plus

Ability to handle, restrain, and care for a variety of animal species safely

Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills

Ability to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as needed

Compassionate, reliable, and team-oriented work ethic
