    Animax Designs creates extraordinary three-dimensional characters for the themed entertainment, location-based entertainment, commercial, film, and television industries. We are currently seeking a Controls Technician to work at our facility in Nashville, TN.

    The Controls Technician has technical responsibility for the production and commissioning of animatronic figures. This role has an electrical/controls focus and will work within the Automation and Controls Department to support all activities performed by the department.

    At Animax Designs, we collaboratively work on very ambitious and complex projects. The ideal candidate for this position has a broad understanding of the technologies and methods used in controls design and can apply their knowledge to support the department while completing tasks with minimal errors. The Senior Animation Technician should also be able to mentor other technicians in completing complex work and tasks as passed down by management.

    This role also could include domestic and international travel to assist with the installation of our animatronic figures at various locations.

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    Support figure wiring and testing

    Support the Mechanical Production Assembly team in building figures

    Apply trade skills to support the business

    Support engineering in commissioning and troubleshooting of enclosures (both high voltage and low voltage)

    Support installation of animated figures

    Read and understand customer and Animax Designs functional specifications for the systems to be created.

    Perform testing and debugging of products using standard equipment (voltmeter, oscilloscope, etc).

    Ensure Animax standards and quality are met on all figures

    Work in a fast-paced, deadline-focused environment

    Travel as needed for the installation of animated figures at client site.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    2-3 years of production and commissioning work experience

    Has experience working on projects from inception to delivery

    Demonstrated ability in understanding and implementation of industry standards

    Thorough understanding of industry standards (NEC, UL508a, CE, NEMA, etc.) and industrial safety standards (IEC, NFPA 79)

    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

    Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

    Preferred Skills

    Effective communication, both written and verbal, in a team environment

    Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite

    Able to manage project tasks effectively to meet schedule milestones

    Knowledge of electric servo systems

    Knowledge of Beckhoff systems

    Knowledge of Elmo drives

    Demonstrated ability to build high quality connectors and cable assemblies

    Experience soldering small components

    Physical Requirements/Environment

    Ability to frequently lift objects weighing at least 30 pounds, stand for long periods of time, occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch, and use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects.

    Ability to climb ladders, steps, and work from heights.

    Work environment is a warehouse/shop and involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following safety precautions.

    Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as fumes, odors, and/or loud noises.
